Percussion Ensemble

The Senators Percussion Ensemble is a separate performance ensemble run by the Senators. It has 30 performers ranging from the ages of 13-30 and its aim is to create an exciting production utilising Percussion equipment ranging from Marching Snare, Tom and Bass Drums to Concert Keyboards, Timpani and also Electronic Synthesisers.

The Ensemble was formed at the end of 2004 and our first production was the very popular Charlie Daniels Band classic "The Devil went down to Georgia". The initial aim behind the Ensemble was to create a Performance vehicle so that we could showcase the talents of our Percussion Section. We had been asked by Ian Wright at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, to run an hour-long clinic for their annual "Day of Percussion" in January 2005.

This was the catalyst behind the formation of the Ensemble, and in the winter of 2004 the percussion section worked tirelessly to produce a new and innovative production in the UK. As well as performing the Charlie Daniels piece at the RNCM, we also ran an interactive "Clinic" detailing all facets of Marching Percussion to an audience of over 300 music students.

The results were fantastic and we have since run clinics and performances in Preston, Lancashire, as well as Burgess Hill, Sussex and finally at the Winter Guard UK Championships in Brentwood, Essex.

Our 2007 production is entitled "W I R E D" - please click here for more information on the 2007 Senators Percussion Ensemble.
