High Profile Events
The Senators are always looking for performance opportunities. We have had the privilege of performing at some very high profile events during the past few years. In 2004 members of our brass line performed with the pop group Keane on the video for their release "This is the last time", which was a top ten hit in the UK.
The Corps percussion section featured with the international movie star and musician Will Smith as he performed his hit single "Switch" on Ant and Dec’s "Saturday Night Takeaway" in April 2005.
In May 2005, the Senators provided six members for Gwen Stefani on her four day tour of the UK promoting her single "Hollaback Girl". This included a days rehearsal at Husky Studios in London and then performances on Channel 4 and their program "T4", a visit to BBC studios to perform live on "Top of the Pops", and to the Riverside Studios in London for ITV's "CD:UK".
The last leg of the tour was a trip to Sunderland to perform with Gwen at the Radio One event "One Big Sunday" in front of over 15,000 screaming fans. Our brief was to provide a small backing band consisting of two snare drums, one bass drum, a cymbalist, trombone and tuba, and to add colour to the performance by Gwen.
