Field Shows

The Senators are a marching Drum and Bugle Corps, and to the uninitiated we perform musical routines to choreographed movement. We have a Corps of over 67 members which is broken down into four distinct sections:

A brass section that has 29 members and features forward facing trumpets, mellophones, baritones and tubas.
A marching percussion section of 12 members featuring snare drums, toms, bass drums and marching cymbals.
A concert percussion section of 10, who perform with concert xylophone, vibraphone, marimba, glockenspiel, timpani and auxiliary percussive instruments.
Finally we have a colour guard section. We have 16 members who add "colour" to the show by performing with flags and imitation rifles as well as adding dance to the production.

Each individual section is then brought together as we create a musical and visual extravaganza by adding movement to the whole package.

The Corps has a long and proud tradition of competition; we are the current British Drum Corps Champions, having captured our 7th title at the recent DCUK (Drum Corps United Kingdom) Championships held at Field Mill Football Stadium, Mansfield.

Throughout the competitive season, which runs from June to September, the Senators will perform in various DCUK and DCE sanctioned events. In 2006 the Senators performed our Field Show to the music from the rock group Queen. We featured the music “Don’t stop me now”, “Who want’s to live forever”, “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “We will rock you” and had great fun performing such an entertaining show by an icon band. We are constantly looking for other events to showcase our talents; we have performed in football stadia as pre-match and half-time entertainment and we have also performed at Militaristic Tattoos in both the UK and Central Europe.

In 2007 our Field Show is entitled “Shuffle Up and Deal”, and is about the four suits of a deck of cards. This will see the Corps perform a high octane and energetic show which we aim to be entertaining to both audience and performer alike.
