We are pleased to announce that the Senators Percussion Ensemble have become CGN (Colour Guard Netherlands) European Indoor Percussion Champions.

The contest held at the Indoor Sports Centrum in Eindhoven last weekend saw the Senators prevail over 6 other Indoor Percussion units from Holland, France and the UK, and in the process managed to win every caption in attaining a score of 89.60 points out of a possible 100.

The full results were as follows:

1. Senators Percussion Ensemble (UK) - 89.60
2. Rhythm Stars (NL) - 81.8
3. Busy Fingers (NL) - 81.0
4. Vintage (UK) - 79.0
5. Excelsior (NL) - 75.20
6. Showband USA (FR) - 74.90
7. Premier (NL) - 68.10

The show was entitled “The Heist” and was a story about Jack Siou a famous jewel thief, who wrestles with his conscience over the temptation of stealing the 4 million Euro “Millennium Hope Diamond” from the Eindhoven Museum.

The 22 strong ensemble featured marching percussion instruments, as well as a full Concert front ensemble of Marimbas, Xylophone’s, Vibraphone’s, Glockenspiel and Timpani, together with amplification in the form of a Yamaha Stagepas 300 PA system to connect our bass guitar, synthesiser and vocalist.

The Senators will now concentrate on the summer season show which features the music of the rock group “Queen” and we hope it is a hit for both audiences and adjudicators alike.
